Gettin' spammed... :)

I just got two emails from "Andy" about putting a link back to you guys on my menu. However, the email was confusing and I at first interpretted it as a precursor to a nasty-gram reminding me to link back to Milonic because I have a free menu with no link back...

However, I did pay for a Professional license which I thought meant that I did not have to provide a link back.

Now that I visit the site, I see that it was mostly a reminder to provide the .com link instead of .co.uk link, but only IF I was providing a link. I hope this is the case.

I think you're going to hear from a lot of confused people today. :(

Either way, great menus. If I had one suggestion, I wish there was some way to know what version of the menus I'm running, and when I go to the download page, it tell me what version I'm going to download. Since they work perfectly on my IE browser, I don't notice a difference when I upgrade, but I do it because I know I have other browsers hitting my site and they don't always tell me if there's a problem.

Enough rambling... this was just a bit of feedback.

True, because you purchased a pro license, you do not HAVE to link back to milonic. But its GREATLY appreciated if you put something somewhere on the site, giving credit. If you can't thats fine and you are not breaking any rules, but as you said, this is a great menu and the creators and the people that work with it really appreciate some kick back that is generated from linking back to us.

And there is a post at the top of the version 5 forum that John keeps up that has the current version in it. You can go to that post and subscribe to it which will basically make the forum email you every time there is a new version since John is the only guy updating that post and he only does it when theres a new version.

Enjoy your DHTML Milonic menu...thanks for purchasing a pro license. But if you can and would be so kind, put a link back to Milonic. If you cant, thats ok too!

Dave's suggestion about subscribing to the "Current Menu Code Release Info" thread is a good one, so you can get an email every time there's a new update. You'll find that thread here. To subscriber to the thread, you must log into the forum, open the "Current Menu Code Release Info" thread at the top of the Help forum, then click the "watch this topic for replies" link at the bottom-left of the page.

As for knowing what version of the menu you are currently running, you can open any of the three source code files -- milonic_src.js, mmenudom.js, or mmenuns4.js. You'll see the version and release number at the top of the code, in the second line of comments. Also, there is a place provided in the comments at the top of each of these three .js files where you can place your professional license number.

Hope that helps,

Kevin

I believe that soon (if not already), the posting of your license number (which, as Dave said, we do appreciate!) will be required so we can keep track of those using the menu without licensing it.

I thought I did that already, but I'll check. Andy replied to me privately letting me know I still had a free license too, which he removed.

I am "watching" the topic about releases. Is it possible to post the fixes included in it?? I get bug reports about the menus in my own bug reporting system so it would be nice to confirm fixes.

Thanks again for the great work. :)

Actually that was a generic comment (sorry it wasn't more clear). Didn't mean 'you' specifically.

I post the fixes when I get them from Andy, but it's not that frequently (as you've noticed). Andy's more concerned with getting a clean release out the door right now. While I understand the need/desire for an updated list, I see his side as well. Hang in there.
